Automated Packaging Systems Inc.

Release date: November 5, 2008

STREETSBORO, OH - November 5, 2008 - Automated Packaging Systems, the world leader in high-reliability packaging systems, has installed a new 10-color flexographic printing press to expand its high-end color printing capabilities for the company's line of AutobagŪ and SidePouch(TM) bag packaging materials. This new Windmoeller & Hoelscher press prints on a wide range of polyethylene, polypropylene, and co-extruded films. The new printing press has 10 printing stations, which are typically used for the four primary process colors, plus up to six additional PMS colors, varnishes, or metallic inks.

This new 10-color, flexographic press prints high resolution graphics and includes a state of the art video inspection system that continuously scans for defects and monitors color variation. The most common applications for this level of custom printing are typically high-end retail, food and pet supply packaging. Proprietary manufacturing equipment is used to convert the printed plastic into pre-opened bags-on-a-roll that are system-matched to run on the company's Autobag and SidePouch baggers and bag packaging equipment.

"We are pleased to offer our customers this state-of-the-art printing capability so that they can achieve higher quality, graphic intensive consumer packaging," says Chris Rempe, Senior Product Manager for Automated Packaging Systems. "Our customers know the value of packaging that makes a statement, and this 10-color printing capability will help them to do just that," Rempe added.

Additionally, Automated Packaging's Graphics, Art & Imaging Department offers turnkey design services to help customers create custom artwork for their bags. The company's experience in flexographic printing, coupled with the largest manufacturing capacity, ensures unique bag packaging with the best lead times in the industry.
