New X-Mill machine shortens lead times for FPD and solar industry markets

Rohnert Park, CA, August 29, 2008 - Parker's Electromechanical Automation Division, a leading supplier of motion control technology, announces an advanced manufacturing solution: the X-Mill. Located at the Parker Daedal facility in Irwin, PA, the X-Mill expands Parker's long-travel-positioner manufacturing capabilities, allowing us to machine single-piece bases for positioning tables in lengths up to six meters right in our facility.

Today's large flat panel display and solar industry markets demand long-stroke units with precision capabilities; the X-Mill allows Parker Daedal to shorten the lead times through in-house precision manufacturing on their long-stroke XR, LXR, Trilogy linear positioners and HPLA series.

The X-Mill received its moniker because of its long travel in the X direction: six meters (236"). At 51,000 lbs, 40 feet long, and nine feet high, it is by far the longest conventional mill in the southwestern Pennsylvania area. Requiring a two-foot isolation pad because of its weight, the machine was delivered from Texas to our facility in two weeks and made ready to run in another two weeks. The high-speed 15,000 RPM spindle and high rapid rates also make a perfect fit for long-travel precision machining on our Trilogy line of linear motor positioners.

For more information about Parker's precision machining capabilities, please call 800-245-6903.
