Clarcor Air Filtration Release date: August 7, 2008
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (Aug. 7, 2008) - Governor Mitch Daniels joined executives from air filter maker Clarcor Air Filtration Products today to announce the company's plans to consolidate its Midwest manufacturing operations here, bringing 425 new jobs and the company's corporate headquarters to the southeast Indiana city.
The company, which manufactures filters for office buildings, industrial plants, laboratories and pharmaceutical facilities under the brands of Purolator, Air Technologies, Airguard Industries and ATI, will invest $8.5 million to lease and equip a 450,000-square-foot headquarters, manufacturing and distribution center that is currently under construction in the city's River Ridge Commerce Center.
"Clarcor joins a growing list of companies who have made the choice to move to Indiana. With our low cost of doing business, quality workforce and unmatched infrastructure, Indiana is becoming the location of choice for businesses throughout the Midwest, the country and around the world," said Daniels.
A subsidiary of Tennessee-based global filtration company CLARCOR Inc (NYSE: CLC), Clarcor Air Filtration Products will consolidate its Louisville, Ky., headquarters and distribution center, along with its Jeffersontown, Ky., and its New Albany manufacturing operations into the new center next year. The company plans to begin hiring managers, laborers, warehouse specialists, maintenance technicians and clerical staff before construction of the new facility is completed.
"Geographically and demographically, Southern Indiana offered an ideal location for growing our business, while providing our customers and employees a state of the art manufacturing complex and headquarters," said Kevin Bush, senior vice president of operations for CLARCOR Air Filtration Products. "This location provides the current and future needs and resources we envision for CLARCOR Air."
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered CLARCOR Air Filtration Products up to $3.587 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. The city of Jeffersonville will provide the company with property tax abatement as part of the Urban Enterprise Zone at the River Ridge Commerce Center.
"The City of Jeffersonville is elated CLARCOR, Inc. chose Jeffersonville as the location for this retention and expansion project. By remaining in the region, CLARCOR can keep its existing workforce while simultaneously creating new jobs and new capital. Jeffersonville is especially grateful to Mayor Doug England of New Albany for appreciating and supporting this growth in Jeffersonville," said Jeffersonville Mayor Tom Galligan.
In the last year, Orlando-based process integrator Connections Inc. also has announced plans to locate its secure customer contact center at the River Ridge Commerce Center, creating 750 new jobs. Located one mile from Interstate 265, the commerce center is home to more than 30 companies that collectively employ more than 2,000.
