ACTION(TM) Gloves: For the Toughest Cut and Slash Hazards

ACTON, Ontario (March 2008) - Workers handling sharp materials don't usually have a problem remembering to wear hand protection. The real problem they face is finding a glove with a very high level of cut protection that is also dexterous. Superior Glove's ACTION(TM) line of hand protection is designed to protect against cut and slash hazards, for applications ranging from construction to forestry work. The latest addition, the 'Triple Play', offers unprecedented protection from the occupational hazards that garbage collector and recyclers face. It was the winner of the 2007 Commitment to Worker Safety Award in the Best in Hand Protection category at the National Safety Congress in Chicago in October.

Introduced to the market last summer, this glove scored high for both abrasion and cut-resistance. Layers of fine steel mesh are sandwiched between the KevlarŽ string knit glove body and side-split palm and finger areas, which also feature leather extended around the sides to increase protection and prevent wear. Both the cut and abrasion rating for the 'Triple Play' is ASTM 5, which doesn't really tell the whole story. The Taber test for abrasion subjects gloves to multiple cycles of an abrading wheel, measuring the number of cycles required to wear through. After 10,000 cycles, the 'Triple Play' did not wear out. For cut-resistance, the thumb and first two finger-tips and thumb crotch, which feature eight layers of steel mesh, survived over 21,000 grams of cutting force.

"The Triple Play glove took years of research and development, and offers the best combination of abrasion, puncture and cut protection of anything on the market. Pardon the pun, but it truly is a cutting-edge design" says Tony Geng, president of Superior Glove.

Superior's ACTION(TM) series includes the following styles: SKLP ACTION(TM) Palm, KevlarŽ sewn, split-leather palm; SKLPR Double ACTION(TM) Palm and index finger, KevlarŽ sewn; SKLPEV ACTION(TM) Palm, KevlarŽ sewn, split-leather palm, elasticized cuff with velcro closure; SKGLP grain-leather palm, KevlarŽ sewn; and SKLPSMT ACTION(TM) 'Triple Play' KevlarŽ, wraparound leather palm w/steel mesh. All models available in sizes S-XL.
