Ticona Engineering Polymers

Release date: March 19, 2008

Atlanta, March 19, 2008 - Ticona, the engineering polymers business of Celanese Corporation, is showcasing the latest innovations in polymer resins for use in fiber, nonwoven and film products at Techtextil North America 2008 at the Cobb Galleria Centre here from April 1 to 3.

These diverse products and comprehensive technical services are developed by Ticona for customers in a variety of industries: textiles/clothing, shoes, filtration, liquid/gas, E-E insulate, medical, transportation, space, packaging, fabric coatings, active wear, sports equipment, and construction/building.

On display at Booth #1845, Ticona is highlighting:

o New monofilaments made with Riteflex® UV 655M thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPC-ET) - With unheard of levels of UV stability, monofilaments made with Riteflex provide more than 85 percent property retention (e.g., color and elongation) at UV exposures of as much as 2000 kJ/m² tested according to SAE J1960 in several colors including black. o Riteflex® thermoplastic polyester elastomers (TPC-ET) - Create exceptional films that offer a high barrier to liquid water while allowing for the transmission of water vapor for use in furniture, auto seating or incontinence pads that need underlying materials that stay dry and prevent mold formation that cause odor and allergy issues. o New Melt-Blown (MB) grade of Vectra® liquid crystalline polymers (LCP) - Delivers an unusually strong and thermally stable micro-denier MB LCP suited for calendered high-performance MB nonwovens used for high-temperature, chemically resistant filters and insulation. o Diolen Industrial Fibers' first high-tenacity multifilament made with Fortron® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) - Called Diofort®, this high-performance yarn is inherently flame-retardant with high durability, toughness and chemical resistance, which allows it to withstand extremely hot environments inherent in industrial filter systems for flue gases and aggressive liquids to composite applications for aerospace systems.
