Injazat Data Systems

Release date: January 16, 2008

Injazat Data Systems, the region's leading Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company, has announced the launch of 'Injazat Defence Services' - a new subsidiary that will provide business process and information technology defence services - during a press conference held today (Wednesday, January 16, 2008) at the Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi.

The new company, which will commence operations on January 17, 2008, will be positioned as a local defence company that can leverage Electronic Data Systems' global defence consultancy, as well as its outsourcing and service delivery experience, to address local and regional military and defence requirements.

Commenting on the launch, Ibrahim Mohamed Lari, CEO, Injazat Data Systems said, "As one of the UAE's leading IT services companies, we have developed a solid reputation based on our secure and flexible services that have earned us the respect of governments throughout the region." He then added, "Our defence subsidiary will capitalise on this reputation and will develop locally world-class expertise to assist the local and regional military and defence organisations meet their needs."

Drawing on the strengths of Injazat Data Systems and Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Injazat Defence Services will provide a wide range of defence services.

From areas such as reconnaissance and battlefield intelligence, to logistics and training, payroll, pensions and veterans administration, Injazat Defence Services will deliver flexible and innovative consultancy and solutions to meet modern military requirements.

EDS is a leading player in the global defence IT market and has garnered some of the world's most significant outsourcing and service delivery contracts, including a Defence Information and Infrastructure Program linking 150,000 desktops and 300,000 users in 2,000 locations; as well as a Joint Pay and Administration Program (JPA) delivering personnel services to more than 350,000 UK military personnel. The company has also been awarded the world's largest government IT contract to provide the delivery and management of the United States Navy Marine Corps Intranet; in addition to the personnel training, engineering and logistics support for the US Navy Supply Command.

Sir Rob Fry, Vice President and Managing Director for EDS (UK) Defence Services, said, "From our global experience, we recognise and understand many of the needs of the UAE and the region in defence and homeland security. The Injazat business model of using EDS' experience to generate local capabilities has achieved remarkable success and we believe we can repeat this success in the defence and homeland security markets. The time is right to launch Injazat Defence and we are all very excited about supporting this initiative."

Injazat Data Systems is a joint venture between Mubadala Development and EDS. Since establishing operations in 2005, the Abu Dhabi-based company is now the leading IT outsourcing company in the UAE and one of the leading IT service providers in the Middle East.
