Micrel Semiconductor Inc.

Release date: November 9, 2007

San Jose, Calif., Nov. 9, 2007 - Micrel Inc., (Nasdaq:MCRL), an industry leader in analog, high bandwidth communications and Ethernet IC solutions, today announced that Bob Whelton, Executive Vice President, Operations, will retire effective Dec. 1, 2007. Whelton, a 43-year veteran of the semiconductor industry, has been with Micrel since 1998. Micrel also announced the appointment of Scott Ward to Vice President, Analog Business Unit.

"This is an emotional time for the Micrel family," noted Ray Zinn, President and CEO, Micrel. "While we are happy for Bob to be able to enjoy his family and pursue his retirement, we are also sad to see him leave. Bob has been both friend and employee, leader and supporter of Micrel, for many years. Among his many accomplishments, Bob has been instrumental in guiding Micrel's growth into the global, thriving business it has become today. His presence will be sorely missed."

"I feel privileged to have been associated with the semiconductor industry and with Micrel," Whelton said. "It has been an exhilarating experience. The memories I will take forward are those of the great people I have worked with over the last 40 plus years and the positive changes in our world enabled by the products we produce."

Mr. Whelton joined Micrel as Executive Vice President, Operations in 1998. Prior to his time at Micrel, he held various positions with Micro Linear Corporation, National Semiconductor Corporation, Intel and Fairchild Corporation.

Micrel also announced the appointment of Scott Ward to Vice President, Analog Business Unit. In his new role, Mr. Ward will have profit and loss as well as product selection responsibility for Micrel's Analog Business Unit. Mr. Ward was formerly Vice President of Micrel's Test Division. In his new role, he will report directly to Ray Zinn, President and CEO. The Company's analog business accounts for more than two-thirds of the Company's revenues worldwide.

"I expect that with Scott's leadership, Micrel will redouble its focus on growing revenue and introducing new and innovative products," stated Mr. Zinn. "Scott is a seasoned veteran of both the semiconductor industry and Micrel, with more than 30 years experience, and as such, is ideal for taking on this dynamic leadership role within the organization."

Mr. Ward joined Micrel in 1999 as Vice President of the Test Division. Prior to joining Micrel, he was employed by QuickLogic Corporation as Vice President of Engineering. Before that, Mr. Ward was employed by National Semiconductor Corporation, where he held various Product Line Director positions in the Analog Division. Mr. Ward holds a B.S.E.T. degree from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.
