Arrow Enterprises, Inc. Release date: December 17, 2007
Expansion builds on existing relationship between Arrow ECS and Hitachi in North America
ENGLEWOOD, Colo., and BRISBANE, Calif., Dec. 17 -- Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS), a business unit of Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW), and the Server Systems Group (SSG) of Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT/)(NYSE:TSE)(NYSE:6501), today announced an agreement designating Arrow ECS as the first distributor for Hitachi's BladeSymphony® servers.
"This agreement not only expands our Hitachi portfolio but also enhances Arrow ECS' ability to provide authorized partners with required enterprise computing solutions," said Sean Kerins, vice president of Arrow ECS' Storage Group.
Through this agreement, Arrow ECS will be the first distributor in North America for the Hitachi BladeSymphony 1000 with Virtage and BladeSymphony 320 servers. BladeSymphony addresses the computing needs for all tiers of the datacenter. To address enterprise-class computing needs, BladeSymphony with Virtage provides the most efficient virtualization solution for end users today.
Hitachi America, SSG previously sold BladeSymphony through direct sales and select reseller channels in North America. This agreement enables Hitachi to leverage Arrow ECS' extensive relationships and scale to deliver its BladeSymphony solutions to more authorized resellers and end users. As the distributor for nearly 75 leading hardware, software and storage suppliers, Arrow ECS brings the ability to connect its valued reseller partners with complementary products to create complete solutions for end-user needs. The BladeSymphony solutions are designed to work with both Hitachi Data Systems and other third-party storage products distributed by Arrow ECS.
"Arrow ECS brings to partners and customers a solid record of moving products from the manufacturing line to the datacenter. Our agreement with Arrow ECS simplifies the task of providing cutting-edge computing assets at reduced costs," said Elizabeth King, vice president and general manager of Hitachi America, SSG. "Hitachi expects increased availability and expansion of our BladeSymphony series through this agreement, furthering Hitachi's goal of making BladeSymphony a household name by addressing a broad range of datacenter needs."
BladeSymphony solutions are also ideally suited for the midmarket as Arrow ECS is creating a robust program to enable its suppliers and partners to reach medium-sized businesses.
With Arrow ECS, partners will receive dedicated, personalized services including presales technical support; order fulfillment management for multi- and single-platform solutions; business planning and marketing services; vertical market services; flexible financing; customized configurations; and engineering support.
