Johnson Controls, Inc.

Global security leader heralded for strategic approach to integrated solutions

MILWAUKEE - (November 17, 2009) - Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI), the global leader in security and fire safety solutions, is the proud recipient of the 2009 Security Distributing Marketing (SDM) Systems Integrator of the Year Award. According to SDM magazine, the company was selected for its leadership as a single-source provider for systems integration to customers across the world.

"The Systems Integrator of the Year award exemplifies who we are and how we deliver measurable results to our customers," said Joel Lehman, vice president of security and fire safety solutions, Johnson Controls. "Our understanding of how systems and technologies can work together is helping customers optimize efficiencies, protect their assets and reduce costs."

Global Integration Strategy for Business Outcomes The award comes on the heels of the global reorganization and strategy plan announced in 2008. Through a three-pronged strategy focus on integrated security technologies and solutions, targeted global outreach, and a focus on customers, the company's customer base increased to more than 50,000 businesses worldwide.

The company's approach to systems integration breaks down the silos between physical security, information security, IT systems, building automation and business applications, allowing the systems to work more collaboratively and efficiently.

The SDM award announcement highlights the Johnson Controls global strategy through proven customer case studies, including Camana Bay, a mixed-use planned community in Grand Cayman. Johnson Controls recently integrated multiple systems from security management and digital video surveillance to fire alarms and building management through a single IP network. Similar solutions have been provided to universities, airports, hotels, corporate campuses, hospitals and government facilities worldwide.

Lisa Roy, the company's global vice president and general manager, will feature the company's best practices and share additional case studies at the SDM Systems Integrator of the Year 2009 Webinar on November 19 at 2 p.m. (EST).

About the SDM Integrator of the Year award The SDM Systems Integrator of the Year award recognizes a company that offers the highest quality of services to the market, and serves as the finest example of a business to other security providers. Eligible companies are all those in the systems integration industry, regardless of size or market niche, and commercial integrators who derive more than 50 percent of their revenue from the engineering, design, installation, or the service of access control, video surveillance, and electronic integrated security systems.
