Created by IPC PCB Executive Agent Task Force, IPC Printed Board Defense Roadmap was developed to assist DoD PCB Executive Agent in identifying printed board technologies, designs, and materials that will be required to meet future DoD and OEM needs. It is also believed to be able to facilitate communication between printed board industry, OEMs designing and manufacturing military hardware, DoD, and military electronics supply chain.

BANNOCKBURN, Ill., USA, November 4, 2009 - With input from top military OEMs and after months of research, the IPC Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Executive Agent Task Force has created a roadmap to assist the newly appointed Department of Defense (DoD) PCB Executive Agent. IPC Printed Board Defense Roadmap will be released at IPC's upcoming Technology Interchange, The North American PCB Industry: It Can and Will Support the Military Market, December 9-10, 2009, in Washington, D.C.
The IPC PCB Executive Agent Task Force, composed of leading North American printed board manufacturers, developed the roadmap to assist the PCB Executive Agent in identifying printed board technologies, designs and materials that will be required to meet future DoD and OEM needs. One year ago, Congress mandated the establishment of the PCB Executive Agent program and development of the DoD Roadmap in order to strengthen national defense readiness.
The IPC Task Force believes the IPC defense roadmap can facilitate better communication between the printed board industry, OEMs designing and manufacturing military hardware, the DoD and the military electronics supply chain.
Michael Moisan, vice president of technology for TTM Technologies Inc. and member of the IPC Task Force said, "IPC's Technology Interchange on the military market in December presents an ideal venue to unveil the IPC defense roadmap." Participants from all areas of the military electronics supply chain will be in attendance.
"Companies in the electronics industry need to have a clear and complete understanding of current and future DoD/OEM needs, particularly in the areas of critical parts, materials and designs," added Moisan. The roadmap, which will be presented by members of the Task Force, identifies the North American printed board industry's future technologies and capabilities for defense electronics.
Attendees at the IPC Technology Interchange will each receive a complimentary copy of the IPC defense roadmap. Following the event, the roadmap will be available to IPC members for free download. Nonmembers will able to purchase the document beginning December 11, 2009.
