Harco Mfg. Co. Release date: July 16, 2009
Mike Rowe and his crew from "Dirty Jobs" paid a visit to Motive Power Incorporated, a Wabtec company in Boise, ID to film the 200th episode of Dirty Jobs titled "Locomotive Builder". The episode runs the gamut from beginning of producing the locomotive to the final approvals on the track of the new locomotive and aired on Discovery Channel on February 17th of this year. In the 6th and final segment of this episode the Harco Manufacturing Locomotive Diesel Oxidation Catalyst(DOC) is seen mounted on the EMD engine from above the locomotive. The DOC reduces engine PM by 25%, 40% reduction in HC and CO and fits within the locomotive profile. The Harco Manufacturing DOC is a component of a Motive Power Emission Tier II Engine Upgrade Kit of Motive Power which has been certified by the EPA.
