ThyssenKrupp Safway, Inc.

WAUKESHA, Wis. - June 22, 2009 - ThyssenKrupp Safway Transportation Safety Manager Thomas Christian has achieved the Certified Transportation Professional (CTP®) designation from the National Private Truck Council (NPTC).

To become a CTP, candidates must master a rigorous and comprehensive body of knowledge, information, and skills within the private fleet field that are required to effectively perform within the profession. CTP certification also requires five years of fleet/transportation management.

"Tom has not only greatly assisted the Company with its overall Transportation Safety programs and compliance, but he has dedicated himself to becoming a leader among his peers," said Alan Shamblin, ThyssenKrupp Safway Director of Safety. "His achievement serves as just one example of his professionalism and technical know-how in the field of transportation and fleet safety. I am proud that he's part of the Safway team."

Throughout his two and a half years at ThyssenKrupp Safway, Christian has demonstrated proficient knowledge in a variety of transportation safety subjects, including regulatory compliance, safety standards, management styles, and more.

The curriculum and CTP examination content is based on a comprehensive job analysis conducted by NPTC members. The study identified 47 tasks that focus on the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be successful in fleet/transportation management. The tasks are categorized into five core areas: Finance, Safety, Human Resources, Vehicles and Equipment, and Maintenance and Operations.

Christian is now one of 600 other active CTPs throughout the U.S. who have received this distinguished certification.
