Henkel Loctite Corporation

Release date: June 17, 2009

Rocky Hill, Conn. - June 17, 2009... To support the dramatic growth in the wind energy market, Henkel Corporation offers a range of product technologies developed specifically for manufacturing and maintaining wind turbines. Henkel products include structural adhesives, mold release agents, machinery adhesives, sealants, grouts, cleaners, surface treatments, tapes and metalworking materials.

Offered under the Loctite(R), Teroson(R), Bonderite(R), Frekote(R), Multan(R), P3(R) and several other Henkel brands, the company's wind turbine technologies are used for blade and nacelle manufacturing; tower assembly; hub, bearing and gearbox assembly; field installation; and operational maintenance.

Henkel offers the first Germanischer Lloyd-certified two-component structural polyurethane adhesive, as well as MMA adhesives that are specially formulated for blade bonding and repair. Curing at room temperature, these adhesives provide crack-resistant, long-lasting bonds on composites and metals. For use on blades, gearboxes, hubs, brakes, and pitch and yaw bearings, Loctite(R) machinery adhesives - threadlockers, thread sealants, retaining compounds and gasketing materials - are used to prevent fasteners from loosening, seal pipes and flanges, and bond cylindrical components.

The company's butyl tapes and sealants are used in vacuum forming of composite laminates, while its Frekote(R) semi-permanent mold release agents are used during the molding process for large scale composite components such as blades and nacelles. For waterproofing blades, nacelles and towers, and for turbine maintenance, Henkel sealants offer flexibility, primerless adhesion, rapid cure speed, and temperature resistance. For tower installation, Loctite(R) high strength grouts withstand high torque loading and are available in grades designed for deep pours.

Henkel's Multan(R) and P3(R) metalworking products are used during machining, forging and general forming processes and for short-term corrosion protection. Henkel Bonderite(R) and Alodine(R) metal surface pretreatment technologies protect towers, hubs and gearbox components from corrosion. Henkel cleaners are environmentally responsible formulations designed for cleaning during the manufacturing and on-site maintenance of blades, nacelles and towers.

For more than 130 years, Henkel has been a leader with brands and technologies that make people's lives easier, better and more beautiful. Henkel operates in three business areas - Home Care, Personal Care, and Adhesive Technologies - and is ranked among the Fortune Global 500 companies. More than 60 percent of Henkel's sales are in fast-moving consumer goods, while the industrial business accounts for almost 40 percent of the company's total sales. In fiscal 2008, Henkel generated sales of 14,131 million euros and adjusted operating profit of 1,460 million euros. Our more than 55,000 employees worldwide are dedicated to fulfilling our corporate claim, "A Brand like a Friend," and ensuring that people in more than 125 countries can trust in brands and technologies from Henkel.
