Abovenet

Release date: December 16, 2008

AboveNet, Inc., has launched jabNET(tm), a new cost-effective, high-bandwidth service for the community of content creators of the motion picture and television industries. jabNET provides a production and post-production network specifically designed to provide exactly the right combination of highly-efficient speed, reliability and security.

New York, NY -- December 16, 2008 -- AboveNet, Inc. (www.above.net), (OTC Bulletin Board: ABVT), a leading provider of fiber optic connectivity solutions, has officially launched jabNET (http://www.above.net/products/jabnet.html)(TM), a new cost-effective, high-bandwidth service for the community of content creators for the motion picture and television industries.

AboveNet's jabNET is a production and post-production community-based network specifically designed to provide exactly the right combination of highly-efficient speed, reliability and security that the media industry requires.

Motion picture financing has a long history of adapting to fast-changing economic conditions, with each new challenge and solution underscored by the industry's pressing need to shorten the time from original photography to release.

"When working with one of the members of the jabNET community, a producer can save days and even weeks of finance charges by moving production elements across the jabNET," said Anthony Magliocco, recent strategic hire as Director of Media Products at AboveNet.

jabNET enables specialized production teams to quickly and securely share their creative outputs across diverse geographical locations. These are the creative people that produce the highly complex special effects driven action features and adaptations of so many comic book heroes and other productions. The number of iterations needed to perfect this visually rich content has grown dramatically.

"Elements no longer need to wait to be copied and packaged on hard drives and sent via couriers or truck from location to location. jabNET community members just make a few clicks and the files are moving at Gigabit per second speeds," said Magliocco. (Note: Gigabit per second is 1,000 Megabits, about 500 times faster than most home modem speeds and 1,000 times faster than most office connection speeds).

With jabNET, creative teams no longer need to look at tiny images sent over the Internet for collaboration and approvals. Those images can now be viewed in high definition on giant screens allowing truly interactive review and approval sessions. Using the extensive, secure jabNET community network of business partners, producers can send and receive content to hundreds of locations at Gigabit per second speeds.

Magliocco added, "jabNET is going to make sending files using hard drives, or the un-predictable and unsecure Internet, a thing of the past. jabNET users enjoy the immediacy of working in the same room even though they are across town or across the globe."
