ROCKFORD, Ill., Nov. 18, 2008 - Traci Tapani was elected to the board of directors of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association (FMA) Foundation at the group's recent annual meeting. Current board member Jeffrey Knauf was elected to the position of board chairman and member Delbert "Del" Mullens to the position of secretary/treasurer. The nine-member board provides governance for the activities, affairs and property of the FMA Foundation.
Tapani, who co-owns Wyoming Machine, Inc., will serve a two-year term on the board. In 1994, she and her sister Lori left careers in accounting and finance, respectively, to take over the family business from their father Tom.
Knauf, president of Medalist Laserfab, Inc., of Oshkosh, Wis., will serve a one-year term as chairman. He was first elected to the FMA Foundation nine-member board in 2007.
Delbert "Del" Mullens, managing partner of Spector Sales, Inc., of Seattle, Wash., will serve the second year of his two-year term that began in 2007.
"The FMA Foundation assures the future of our industry by encouraging young people to consider manufacturing as a future career option," said Knauf, board chairman. "I look forward to working with our board members in fulfilling that mission."
"As co-owner of a precision sheet metal fabrication company, access to a qualified workforce is always of concern," said Tapani. "I look forward to helping the FMA Foundation reach audiences and provide education and resources that promote the metal fabrication industry."
The FMA Foundation offers grants to not-for-profit organizations and educational institutions introducing young people to metal forming and fabricating careers in manufacturing, provides funding to organizations starting or expanding manufacturing camps for youth, and issues scholarships to students at colleges and trade schools pursuing careers in manufacturing.
