Key Features of Winding System Include Fully Automatic Roll Changes at Line Speeds with Parkinson's Positran® Transfer System September 8, 2008
Woonsocket, RI
A Parkinson Technologies Mark IV Surface Winding System was recently purchased by flexo printing machine manufacturer Fischer & Krecke GmbH & Co. KG will provide fully automatic roll changes while continuing to wind at full line speeds, as fast as 360 meters/minute.

Fischer & Krecke, a division of Bobst Group, will use the Parkinson winding system on its new servo-driven FLEXPRESS type FP 36S preprint linerboard machine. The machine will be delivered to an undiscloed customer location in late 2008. Roll weight for the linerboard application will be 3,200kg (7,000 lbs). The rolls will be 60" diameter.

"We, and our customers, choose Parkinson rewind systems because of their reliability and performance in rough surroundings such as corrugated box factories," said Ralf Bendler, Area Sales Manager for Fischer & Krecke in Bielefeld, Germany. "We have had good experience with Parkinson in the past, and they provide excellent support both prior to delivery and during final machine installation at the customer's plant."

Continuous Winding Capability - Automatic Roll Switchover System
One of the key features of the Parkinson Mark IV surface winding system purchsed by Fischer & Krecke is the Positran® Transfer System, which allows for the automatic changing of rolls at full line speeds. As a roll approaches completion, the winder loads a new core into the machine, knife-cuts the full roll, removes it form the machine, and begins winding the new roll, all without stopping or even slowing down the machine.
