Engineering Systems Inc.

Release date: July 1, 2007

Engineering Systems Inc. expands its US presence by opening a multidisciplinary forensic and consulting engineering services facility in Atlanta, Georgia. "We've been very active in Georgia and the southeast for years" says ESI President and COO Nelson Koopman. "We've had technical staff in Atlanta in the past, both permanently and temporarily, and now we are making a much greater stride in support of our clients by opening a new and larger multidisciplinary operation in Atlanta."

The new ESI office will be spearheaded by Mike Stevenson, Ph.D., P.E., the new ESI VP and Director of Georgia Operations, formerly from MME in the Atlanta area. "With our start-up staff and the depth of ESI support from the rest of the ESI offices in about every engineering discipline and specialty area I can think of, we now offer clients the full-scale multidisciplinary engineering services firm in the southeast that I think they deserve," Stevenson states.

The strengths of the new ESI-Georgia operation cover such areas as forensic investigation, consulting and laboratory testing. Some areas include materials and metallurgical investigations and laboratory testing, commercial and residential fire and explosion investigations, applied mechanics including finite element analysis (FEA), and civil/structural engineering work. This work is typically assigned by clients such as insurance companies, law firms, Third Party Administrators, insurance adjusters (including independent and large loss), fire investigators (residential, commercial and product), product manufacturers (in-house counsel, technical and engineering departments), Catastrophe teams, Special Investigation Units of insurance companies, and municipalities, utilities and governmental operations.

The scope and depth of this experience comes not only from Dr. Stevenson's background, but from 4 other members of the start-up team. They are Michael Hayes, Ph.D., P.E., Frank Hagan, P.E., Jeff McDougall, P.E. and Daniel Spradling. Together they have many successful years of experience supporting local, regional and national clients, and are well respected in their individual fields.

"We are opening a 13,000+ square foot facility in the expanding and easy-to-get-to Norcross area of NE Atlanta," states Chuck Morin, co-founder and CEO of ESI, who has known and respected Stevenson for several years. Morin further states "This places the facility convenient to past, present and future downtown Atlanta clients, as well as many manufacturers that use the type of professional services our Atlanta operation provides."

Stevenson adds "Our up-to-date forensic laboratory is complete with a new state-of-the-art Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and we also have 2 high bay areas off our multi-bay loading dock to internally handle large equipment or structure investigations, plus plenty of secure artifact storage space. These open investigation areas lead into our labs and conference areas for efficient work flow."

"With this layout and amount of space, we now offer our clients a first class location in the southeastern U.S. for their multi-party inspections," adds Stevenson. This ESI facility is expected to fill a void noted by some national and regional clients surrounding the Atlanta-Birmingham corridor. "We look forward to servicing our clients and making new clients through our new staff and facility" concludes Koopman.
