Niagara Blower Company

Release date: September 15, 2008

(Buffalo, NY) Niagara Blower has been selected to engineer, manufacture and supply a Wet Surface Air Cooler (WSAC(TM)) closed-loop, evaporative cooler for the Calpine Otay Mesa power plant located in San Diego County, California. The WSAC cooler will cool the plant's main loop water and optimize use of scarce water resources.

WSAC systems are used for auxiliary loop cooling and vacuum steam condensing at simple and combined cycle power plants. These systems combine elements of a tubular heat exchanger and cooling tower in a single structure and are a cost-effective heat transfer technology providing lower outlet temperatures and requiring less space and HP. WSAC coolers and condensers can also use poor quality water as spray makeup.

Niagara Blower is a design-build manufacturer providing engineered solutions to heat transfer applications at power, process, refinery, food and brewing facilities worldwide since 1904. Niagara's customized product lines include WSAC closed-loop, evaporative coolers and condensers and "No-Frost"® liquid desiccant dehumidification systems. For more information, contact Niagara by phone at 716-875-2000, by email at sales@niagarablower.com, or visit www.niagarablower.com.
