Batson, Louis P., Inc. Release date: March 13, 2008
Greenville, SC: Louis P. Batson Company announces the signing of an exclusive sales contract to represent FMS USA, Inc., of Arlington Heights, Illinois, a division of FMS Force Measuring Systems AG of Switzerland.
With the agreement, Louis P. Batson Company will sell the complete line of FMS force measuring sensors (load cells), measuring amplifiers, tension controls, and web guiding systems in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi.
This equipment has a wide range of applications in such process industries as; Converting, Wire and Cable, Textile, Paper, Film and Foil. Continuous material processing, such as a running web or wire, requires equipment that can monitor and control the performance and quality of value-added operations such as converting and paper coating, printing, slitting, laminating, embossing, cable extruding and wire drawing, textile wrapping, tentering, dyeing, and all material winding and unwinding.
The FMS loads cells use the highest accuracy foil type strain gauge technology. This, along with the incorporation of physical overload stops, and the fact that all units are made of anodized or stainless steel, make these units virtually indestructible. These features provide the unit with an overload protection factor of 10 to 20 times, and an accuracy of 0.3-0.5%, the best in the industry. All of this means the load cells will not require recalibration, when subjected to severe load stresses. With a number of styles to fit almost every application, the FMS load cell is can be easily retrofitted to existing equipment.
Measuring amplifiers can be either digital or analog. Both types offer galvanic isolation with voltage and current outputs, built-in signal filtering, and are easy to calibrate. The units can be configured using DIN rails, rack, panel, or in a display housing, making them easy to retrofit to existing systems.
The tension controllers are digital, closed loop systems. They feature galvanic isolation, digital signal filtering, and voltage and current outputs. In addition, they can save 4 independent PID settings, monitor and control slack web startup, and preset alarms for min-max tolerances.
Web Guide systems are the final part of the total package approach offered by FMS USA, Inc. With standard steering frames to 600mm, these web guides can be used in a variety of process applications. They can be custom designed, and utilize stepper, servo, DC, and AC motors depending on the requirement. They feature edge, center, or line detection capability, using optical, ultrasonic, or digital line sensors.
Finally, to reduce cost and machine space FMS has designed All-In-One Systems that incorporate a closed loop tension controller and a web guide controller in one electronic unit.
According to Mr. Dreugh Batson, Group Manager of Louis P. Batson Company, "We are pleased to represent FMS USA, Inc. with its strong reputation for quality and service. Their product mix is a nice compliment to our exiting product lines."
