Release date: August 25, 2008
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will convene its Joint Member Forum (JMF) on Thursday morning, October 23, 2008, in Bethesda, MD, to address strategic business issues for the Institute, the standards and conformity assessment community, and individual organizations.
Steve Patton, a principal in the Americas Business Advisory Services Practice of Ernst & Young and a leader in the firm's work with the automotive sector, will kick off the morning's discussion with an introduction to the E&Y report, "Strategic Business Risk: 2008 - the Top 10 Risks for Business." Mr. Patton will focus a portion of his remarks on management issues pertaining to the global supply chain - including supply chain sustainability issues that affect costs, reputation, risks, and opportunities for growth.
Following Mr. Patton's remarks, officers from the four ANSI member forums will provide brief overviews of recent, current, and future priorities within each constituency group.
Next, a moderated dialogue will engage all members in an examination of cross-cutting issues facing the ANSI Federation: from strengthening the global supply chain to bolstering import safety and consumer confidence. This interactive discussion and open question and answer session will highlight attendee viewpoints on topics of interest and will lay the foundation for continuing discussions in the individual Company Member Forum (CMF), Government Member Forum (GMF), and Organizational Member Forum (OMF) meetings that will be held later that afternoon. The Consumer Interest Forum (CIF) will convene the preceding day.
The JMF meeting will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. A draft agenda can be found online.
The JMF meeting will be immediately followed by the ANSI Annual Business Meeting and 90th Anniversary Luncheon.
These events, which are free to ANSI members, are just two of the many activities scheduled for World Standards Week 2008.
