National Association Of Manufacturers (NAM)

Release date: August 22, 2008

Washington, D.C., August 22 -- The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) today named Maureen Davenport as its senior vice president of communications. Davenport will be responsible for all communications, marketing and branding. She was selected for the position after a successful nationwide search conducted by Korn Ferry International.

"I am delighted to add such a dynamic, seasoned professional to our team," said NAM CEO John Engler. "Maureen is a phenomenal addition to our team. She comes from the fast-paced world of technology and has experience advising some of the world's largest IT companies on complex issues. Maureen's corporate experience coupled with her understanding of Washington will provide the strong leadership we need as we continue to advance a pro-manufacturing agenda."

As SVP of communications, Davenport will play a key role in the development of the NAM's strategic direction. She will also lead all of the NAM's communications campaigns, including media relations, member communications, new media, internal communications and publications. "As one of the most influential business trade association in Washington, the NAM is increasing the competitiveness of American manufacturing by advocating policies that reduce the cost of doing business in the United States," said Davenport. "I believe that strengthening the perception of manufacturing in the U.S. to influence pro-manufacturing policy is one of the most important issues facing the country. Through enhanced strategic communications campaigns, the NAM can be an even stronger advocate for the regulatory and legislative priorities of its member firms and the 14 million manufacturing workers in the U.S."

Davenport comes to the NAM from Hill & Knowlton in Washington, D.C., where she led the U.S. Technology practice and was responsible for growing Hill & Knowlton's technology portfolio. During her time at H&K, she developed integrated communications campaigns for a diverse roster of leading technology clients at all stages of their lifecycle. Her clients included Better Place, EADS, eBay, Gyrocam, HP, Motorola, Qualcomm and VeriSign. Davenport also founded and grew Hill & Knowlton's award-winning competitive specialty group. The National Association of Manufacturers is the nation's largest industrial trade association, representing small and large manufacturers in every industrial sector and in all 50 states. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the NAM has 11 additional offices across the country. Visit the NAM's award-winning web site at www.nam.org for more information about manufacturing and the economy.
