Topics covered for each of the casting processes include: equipment, processing fundamentals, process capabilities and limitations, process modeling, alloys and properties, melt preparation, heat treatment, and economics.

The book was written by Diran Apelian, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and John L. Jorstad, JLJ Technologies, Inc. with contributions from; Qingyue Pan, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Makhlouf Makhlouf, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Christoph Heisser, MAGMA Foundry Technologies, Chuck Barns, Contech, Fred Major, Rio Tinto Alcan, and Steve Udvardy, NADCA.
