Presenters:

Dave Outlaw - The Molders Friend

During his 35-year career, Dave Outlaw has exercised his leadership and creativity in virtually every aspect of the mold-making industry. He has served in a variety of capacities, from designer to factory manager, and his talents and technical knowledge continue to be tapped by the largest and most respected brands in the world; IBM, Unilever, Proctor & Gamble, SCJ, Black and Decker, Polaroid, Playtex, ChapStick, Rayovac, Dial, Clorox, Nestles, Tyco, J&J, Gillette, Rubbermaid, Schering Plough, Abbott Labs and Baxter Healthcare.

Training and mentoring others has long been a major part of Dave's professional profile. He has served on SPI's National Board on the Strategic Management Group for National Certification and Training. He was also the Technical Representative for Plastics to the State of Florida and reported directly to the Governor. Dave has presented the "Molders Friend" Seminar Series to many different people in many different countries. He has also presented seminars on workforce development in injection molding and has taught "Client Site" seminars for mold construction, mold design, mold processing, quality, plastic material, part design, costing, product development, and project management. He was a contributing author for the Society of Plastics Engineers Technicians Toolbox, SPI Certification Manual as well as several trade magazines.

Dave has a postgraduate degree in Architecture from The University of Texas, a Masters of Business Science Degree from Florida Technology, and an ABD for a PhD in Organizational Development with an emphasis on Training and Performance Improvement.

Stephen R. Byrnes

Stephen R. Byrnes, Incoe Corporation's North American Business Manager for Electronics, Medical and Packaging Markets, has more hands-on experience in the use and operation of the injection molding and extrusion processes than all other plastics professionals--or at least any other plastics technology graduate of UMass Lowell, from which Stephen received his Bachelor of Science Degree. Stephen acquired his vast expertise while working in such notable positions as the Northeast Region General Manager for Husky, Account Manager for Pepsi International, Vice President of Sales for HPM Corporation's Injection Molding Machinery Division, V.P. at Synventive Hot Runner Systems, Director of Sales at Nypro's Automated Assemblies and Product Manager for Gloucester Engineering (formerly Battenfield Gloucester Engineering). His technological mastery has long been sought by leading manufacturers who require injection-molding machinery. Stephen has shared his knowledge of the plastics industry over the years by penning numerous technical articles, offering his insights to the industry's leading press and trade publications, speaking at numerous industry conferences and seminars, and by contributing his time and talents to the SPE and several ANTECs. He also served on the board of the Plastics Institute of America. After spending most of his career in New England, Stephen returned to his native Florida three years ago.

Mike Eikenberry

Mike Eikenberry has over 27 years of frontline experience in the injection molding industry. He practically grew up in the business, first starting out as a toolmakers apprentice and then moving into processing with a small family-owned business in central Indiana. By utilizing his tool-making background, Mike has established a well-respected ability to troubleshoot both processing and tooling problems. Mike has held virtually every position in Injection molding during his career path from material handler to Vice President. As chairman of the Rio Grande Chapter of SPE, Mike worked closely with the local El Paso community to establish training programs and industry awareness in local high schools and community colleges, including the instruction of injection molding skills to young people whose training was made possible by a grant from El Paso's Upper Workforce Development Board. A strong proponent of continued education, Mike has taught numerous employees from companies such as Delphi Automotive Systems, Lear Corporation, and Electrolux about the intricacies of "design for manufacturability". As a well-respected member of the online injection molding community, Mike has helped hundreds of people around the world solve molding and tooling problems free of charge through community boards and chat rooms. Industry leaders have praised his knowledge and expertise in injection molding. Mike has also developed a keen understanding of "lean manufacturing" principles, and is well versed in QS 9000, ISO and TS 16949 quality standards.

David M. Rose Dave joined Beaumont Technologies in 2001 and has been a key player in their technical sales, marketing and new business development departments. Prior to joining the BTI staff in April of 2001, Dave worked for the Plastics Technology Deployment Center at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College and as Project Engineer for their product development and tooling/process support department. He was formerly the Engineering Manager for Composiflex in Erie after working for Fisher-Price in New York. In addition to his technical sales expertise, Dave has years of experience in new product development, tooling and process development and project management. He has worked with both thermoplastic and thermosetting composite materials such as Kevlar and carbon fiber epoxies. He is also experienced in the fields of injection molding, gas-assist molding, extrusion blow molding, and resin transfer, and possesses tooling knowledge for each of these processes.

Dave earned both his Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Bachelor of Science in Plastics Engineering Technology from Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Dave has also authored a number of acclaimed technical papers, which have been presented at various technical conferences within the plastics and rubber industries.

Terry Schwenk

Terry Schwenk has over 34 years of experience in the plastics industry, including more than 22 years in hot runner technology. He has also demonstrated an ability to translate complex concepts into comprehensible language .As a member of Mold-Masters Academy, Terry is well versed at presenting training seminars globally on hot runner and injection molding technology. He has extensive experience and knowledge in plastics processing. His experience, not only in application suitability with Hot Runner Systems, but also integration and trouble-shooting, is second to none. Terry is an active member of Society of Plastics Engineers, and holds the post of Past Chair for the Mold Making and Mold Design Division of SPE. He earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Lake Forest School of Management, and has several accredited patents.
