Corning Cable Systems

Release date: June 26, 2008

Solutions offer a rugged, reliable, easy-to-install cabling infrastructure designed to reduce network downtime and cost associated with traditional cabling system deployments

HICKORY, N.C. - Corning Cable Systems LLC, part of Corning Incorporated's (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, introduces LANscapeŽ Industrial Solutions, a tip-to-tip optical cabling system for industrial networks. The solutions include robust fiber optic products that have been specifically designed and tested for the often-rigorous requirements of many industrial environments.

A leader in fiber optic connectivity, Corning Cable Systems offers two optical industrial solutions. The preterminated LANscape Industrial Solution is made possible with Plug & Play(TM) AnyLAN(TM) Systems, a preconnectorized indoor or outdoor system that reduces installation time by up to 50 percent compared with traditional cabling deployments. This time savings is especially critical in industrial networks where downtime can result in lost productivity and revenue.

The field-terminated LANscape Industrial Solutions offering includes a comprehensive suite of tray-rated, industrial fiber optic cables and vibration-tested field-installable connectors that can be terminated easily and consistently in less than a minute. Both solutions include a variety of rugged NEMA- and IP-rated hardware that can protect network connectivity in many industrial settings, as well as test equipment, splice equipment, fiber optic accessories and engineering services support.

Plug & Play AnyLAN Systems feature a fiber optic cable pre-installed with network access points at customer-specified intervals with a tethered, environmentally-hardened MT connector for rapid and rugged connectivity. The preterminated system is manufactured, factory-tested and shipped to the customer as a complete system with no need for field splicing or connectorization. Connectivity is fast, simple and consistent, important for industrial networks that must minimize downtime and the risk of network failure.

Corning Cable Systems' LSZH(TM) Industrial Cables are a suite of low-smoke/zero-halogen cables designed for the safety of personnel and equipment in the open-air and often more extreme conditions of the industrial environment. These cables are available in a variety of options, including armoring and additional protection for cold temperature or mining and petrochemical environments. All LANscape LSZH Industrial Cables are flame retardant and tested to the requirements of UL13, UL444, UL1277 and CSA C22.2 No. 230 and No. 232, the preferred tray-rating standards for industrial applications.

With a wide operating-temperature range and comprehensive vibration testing, UniCamŽ Pretium(TM)-Performance Connectors offer reliable connectivity in extreme industrial environments. The UniCam Connector is vibration-tested in accordance with IEC 61753-1-1 Category C for performance near, on or in machinery and equipment.

LANscape Industrial Solutions also include fiber optic hardware products with NEMA and IP ratings for protection against debris and liquid - important for protection of critical industrial network electronics and connections. In addition, Corning Cable Systems offers enclosures, housings and brackets with small footprints and easy cable management, ideal for connectivity inside larger IP- and NEMA-rated enclosures, or within plant communications rooms.

LANscape Industrial Solutions combine innovative products, including fiber optic cables, connectors, and hardware and test equipment, with award-winning 24-hour technical support and engineering services.
