Garlock Forms Applications Engineering, Training Unit
Palmyra, N.Y., June 17, 2008 -- Garlock Sealing Technologies has formalized its applications engineering, training and customer support functions with the creation of a dedicated unit under the leadership of Matt Tones, a 15-year veteran and third-generation employee of the company.
The new unit will work on a cross-functional basis with Garlock's engineering, product development, customer support, sales and marketing departments to bring the company's extensive knowledge base to these activities. In addition, it will provide Garlock customers with technical support, training, failure analysis and product recommendations.
"In addition to supporting our individual product managers, we hope to expand their horizons by exposing them to our complete line of offerings," explained Tones. "This approach is designed to promote cross- training and provide our global customers the optimal sealing solutions for their specific application requirements."
Prior to his appointment as manager of applications engineering, Tones was product manager for Garlock's GYLONŽ line of restructured PTFE gaskets. He joined the company in 1993 as a laboratory technician, and subsequently served as OEM sales correspondent. He also has nearly 10 years of experience in applications engineering with the company.
