Press Release

Schunk

Release date: June 2, 2008

SCHUNK Inc. Partners with Joe Gibbs Racing

SCHUNK Inc., a world leader in workholding, toolholding, and automation technology, is proud to announce their partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), one of NASCAR's premier Sprint Cup Racing teams. SCHUNK will serve as the "Official Workholding Solutions Provider" of Joe Gibbs Racing, home of the #20 Home Depot Toyota driven by Tony Stewart, the #18 M&M's Toyota, driven by Kyle Busch, and the #11 FedEx Toyota, driven by Denny Hamlin.

SCHUNK will assist Joe Gibbs Racing by developing Workholding Solutions that will enable them to make track-specific modifications to the racecars by getting car parts cut quickly and therefore ensuring that Joe Gibbs Racing stays top competitive on the racetrack. J.D. Gibbs, President of Joe Gibbs Racing, comments, "I am proud to announce that SCHUNK is now an official technical partner of Joe Gibbs Racing. They have the same commitment to speed and quality that we value and we look forward to a productive partnership with them going forward."

SCHUNK's comprehensive line of Workholding Solutions as well as their reputation for providing quick responses with creative workholding solutions are a few of the reasons Joe Gibbs Racing chose SCHUNK. Speed was also a key factor in Joe Gibbs Racing's decision. The SCHUNK Unilock Zero Point pallet system will significantly shorten the turn around time to get parts into the machine while maintaining accuracy with 0.0002" repeatability. Jim Strasser, Manufacturing Engineer for Joe Gibbs Racing, has already noticed benefits from the new equipment from SCHUNK, stating, "In the first several months, SCHUNK has solved numerous challenges from the lathe to the mills. We look forward to seeing what else they can help us with."

SCHUNK Inc. and Joe Gibbs Racing look forward to a prosperous relationship going forward. The two companies are already proving to be a winning combination on and off the track.
