Interpack 2008: tna's Packaging Innovations Based On Customer Focus and Trends

Newest innovations help manufacturers cut costs and increase production

Sydney, Australia (May, 2008) - In the confectionery, food and produce industries, cost pressure continues to rise, and time to market continues to shrink. In order to help producers meet the challenges, lower costs and increase production, tna, a leading supplier of packaging and processing solutions for food production companies worldwide, unveiled six packaging technologies capable of improving packaging performance at Interpack, April 24-30 2008, in Dusseldorf Germany.

New Machinery

roflo® 3 - a first. The roflo® 3 is the world's first totally reversible, gateless transfer and distribution system. A production system that would normally require a series of dedicated lines with multiple products can now be serviced by one roflo® 3 system. Using servo-driven, linear motion and modular components, the roflo® 3's conveying speed and direction are controlled electronically on a touch key pad. Coined the "switcheroo" technology, roflo® 3's bi-directional feed allow its stainless steel pans to be tilted or raised up and down to accommodate one or several lines and various configurations. See video: http://dca-dcpr.com/video/tna/roflo.html

twin robag® 3 - offers the highest economic value of any vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) packaging system. The twin system literally unites the electrical and mechanical components of two machines into one. The advantages include twice the production rate in half the space. In addition to doubling production and lowering costs, the twin robag® 3 system can bag one or two products into different types/sizes of bags simultaneously including pillow pack, quattro or block bottom, and inner and outer bag configurations.

robag® 3 - the new generation robag®. The first tna invention, the robag®, brought record-breaking high speeds to VFFS packaging. Now the generation 3 robag® provides even faster batch changeover abilities and a broader choice of formats including high quality specialty bag formats and long bag applications for products such as cereals and frozen food.

kanga jaw - creates high quality gusset bags on any robag® 3 machine. This ancillary jaw allows producers the option of creating new bag formats without investing in new bagging machinery. trenza® - seamlessly integrates with any robag® 3 series VFFS bagger to create hanging strip bags. The string of bags is fed into the trenza® where the machine simultaneously attaches the strip (automatically ensuring the front faces the seal for store display) and cuts the bag. Strip bags are an economical and environmental alternative to outer boxes or bag in bag applications.

inserter - automatically places singular 3D objects into tna's robag® 3 VFFS packaging equipment, completely eliminating missed inserts and manual labor. Simple key pad selection of an insert operation programs the tna robag® 3 to run the inserter at inserting speeds of 100 bpm. tna's inserter system is so accurate, it offers 0% missed inserts, and reduces the number of multiple inserts.

ConfectioneryAdvances

robag® 3 fx 180 rotary triple jaw (RTJ) - VFFS bagger, with four servo driven motors and speeds of up to 300 bpm when producing 180mm pillow bags, uses specially shaped chutes to compactly concentrate the product to ensure less string out and increase speeds. Its ability to package even the most fragile of products at high speeds is unbeatable for confectionary applications.

Produce Advances robag® 3 320 rotary flat jaw (RFJ), - stainless steel VFFS bagger is designed to offer efficient and gentle produce packaging, from bulk packaging to single-serving to bagged salad kits, at speeds of 60 bpm. The non-stop action of the robag® 3's rotary jaws compress packaging film in a continuous motion using constant, unvarying pressure to form a consistent, bonded seal. The resulting high quality seal dramatically reduces reject levels and boosts sustained freshness maximizing output and increasing product shelf life. The robag® 3 is also engineered to facilitate fast changeovers so that new bag sizes and shapes are easily accommodated.

For produce prone to cluster, tna's "shaker" software literally shakes the product at exactly timed intervals dramatically improving throughput of products with special textures. This, along with a new integrated 714sw dimpled finish stainless steel scale, ensures a fast and smooth movement of the produce, which generally has a very high coefficient, into the formed bags. Its stainless steel design allows easy wash down and operation in environments that are generally very wet.

About tna For over 25 years, tna has set the benchmark in the industry for vertical form, fill and seal (VFFS) packaging systems, creating highly efficient machines, using fewer parts with a simple design to increase maximum output and flexibility. Today, tna provides a complete line of products from its well known robag® VFFS Baggers; roflo® Product Distribution & Accumulation Equipment; Seasoning Systems; Multihead Scales; Checkweighers; Date Coders; Metal Detectors, Case Packers; Palletizers; and Complete Processing Equipment.

tna core products offer a range of robag® stand-alone and turn-key systems that are renowned in the industry for bagging speed capabilities, efficiency and overall performance. The robag® VFFS system has experienced much success in the snack, confectionery, biscuit, cereal, pasta, powder and fresh produce markets, and can form pillow, block bottom, quattro, string and canoe bags. tna remains committed to both its customers and the industry, and strives to provide the highest-quality systems and services available.

tna is the leading supplier of turn-key, integrated packaging and processing solutions for food production companies worldwide, with an installed base of more than 3,000 systems globally. tna's unique combination of innovative technology, extensive project management experience and 24/7 global support ensures customers achieve faster, more reliable and more flexible packaged food products at lower costs and with less wastage.
