Data-Linc Group

Release date: March 11, 2008

March 11, 2008, Bellevue, WA - It was announced today that Data-Linc Group's long-range, high speed 900 MHz radio modems, the SRM7210E, have received approval for use in hazardous environments requiring Class 1 Div 2 certification. The SRM7210E is renowned for enhanced RF technology that provides a high level of reliability over long distances with over-the-air data rates of up to 867 Kbps- six times faster then standard Frequency Hopping technology, for distances up to 20 miles. Its unsurpassed performance in the 900 MHz band has been providing solutions for a wide range of network topologies that can now extend to Class 1 Div 2 installations.

In addition to Class 1 Div 2, its features include:

SRM7210E, high-speed, long-range 900MHz modem, joins Class 1 Div 2 SRM Family long-range 900MHz, 2.4GHz & 2.4GHz for EU modems

o Compact, flexible design with universal mounting-back panel or on optional DIN rail clip

o Range up to 20 miles (32 km) in optimal conditions with line-of-sight and omni directional antennas-farther with Repeaters

o Wireless connectivity between Ethernet PLCs and workstations

o Factory or field configurable-ensuring trouble-free installation

o User configurable for Master, Remote, Repeater or Repeater/Remote mode

The SRM7210E's compatibility with LincViewTM OPC- Data-Linc's real-time RF network diagnostic software- ensures network communication integrity from simple point-to-point to large, complex multi-tier, multi-drop installations and reports such critical information as received and transmitted signal levels, RF noise, radio temperature as well as other data needed to evaluate and/or diagnose system performance.

Adding Class 1 Div 2 certification to its capacity for outstanding speed, distance and reliability makes the SRM7210E an ideal choice for not only harsh industrial applications, but also for those in demanding, hazardous environments. This brings to four the number of Data-Linc long-range, wireless Ethernet modems approved for Class 1 Div 2 installations- SRM6210E for 900 MHz and SRM6310E for 2.4 GHz bands and the 2.4 GHz SRM6310E-EU, designed to meet European CE Mark and ETSI RF regulations. These modems have a long history of ultra high performance in harsh environments and now those environments include areas where Class 1, Div 2 is required. See detailed specifications at http://www.data-linc.com/srmfamily/srm7210e.htm.
