Press Release

Toshiba Teli America, Inc.

Release date: April 28, 2008

Computer Modules to Showcase Toshiba Teli Machine Vision Cameras at Del Mar Electronics Show

FireDragon(TM) and 3-Layer CMOS Cameras Feature FireWireŽ-B

San Diego, CA - QZEO, the multimedia and imaging reseller division of San Diego based Computer Modules, Inc. (CMI), will feature Toshiba Teli machine vision cameras at the Del Mar Electronics Show in Del Mar, California, April 30-May 1st. Toshiba Teli focuses on products for medical, semiconductor inspection, web inspection, instrumentation, and robotics market segments.

QZEO, a Toshiba Teli Master Distributor for three years, will feature Toshiba Teli's FireDragon(TM) progressive scan camera and 3-Layer CMOS 5.0 megapixel camera.

Toshiba Teli FireDragon(TM) cameras are optimized for OEM solutions in robotic vision, electronics inspection, semiconductors or microscopy, as well as excellent replacements for analog cameras.

Offered in eight unique models, FireDragon Series cameras incorporate the highly-efficient digital interface of FireWire-B (IEEE-1394.b), resulting in ultra-fast transfer rates of 800 Mbps for connection with PC's and other peripheral devices. This is twice the speed of conventional FireWire-A or USB 2.0 cameras, plus it produces less signal distortion.

Other performance features include full frame shutter, backwards compatibility with devices equipped with conventional FireWire-A, high shock/vibration resistance, external trigger input for capture of fast moving objects, and RoHS compliance.

The Toshiba Teli 3-Layer CMOS 5.0 is a three layer FireWire-B 5.0 megapixel camera that utilizes a FoveonŽ X3 1/3-inch CMOS progressive scan sensor, providing high definition quality images in a three layer chip. The Foveon sensor gives the 3-Layer camera the advantage of smaller size, less weight and higher heat tolerances than a conventional CCD, with no pixel shifts and shading problems of a CCD. The frame rate at full image is 7 FPS at 1400 (H) x 1050 (W) resolution, with 20 FPS high-speed readout possible in the 2x2-binning mode (700 x 525).

The 29mm remote camera head, combined with three meters of free length cable, qualify the 3-Layer for the most space-sensitive applications. Rounding out its feature set is compatibility with C-mount lenses and internal sync. Applications for the 3-Layer camera include endoscopy, microscopy, chip monitoring, and a variety of medical and industrial imaging tasks.

Other Toshiba Teli products offered by QZEO include the GiantDragon(TM) GigE camera series, camera scopes, and accessories.

"We're excited to be working with QZEO," said Al Sabeh, Vice President, Western Sales, for Toshiba Teli America, Inc. "The response from QZEO customers has been outstanding, and we know customers will want to see these new FireWire B cameras close-up at the Del Mar Electronics Show."

QZEO will also showcase LED lighting systems from Advanced Illumination, Halcon imaging software, Euresys frame grabbers, and Viewbits(TM) high-resolution CMOS cameras.

QZEO and Viewbits are trademarks of Computer Modules, Inc. FireDragon and GiantDragon are trademarks of Toshiba Teli America, Inc. FireWire is a registered trademark of Apple Computer, Inc. Foveon is a registered trademark of Foveon, Inc. All other trademarks and registered trademarks are the properties of their respective owners.
