Press Release

Wisconsin Oven Corp.

Release date: March 10, 2008

Batch Oven Dries Jet Engine Cowlings

March 10, 2008

Wisconsin Oven designed and manufactured an electrically heated batch oven for drying jet engine cowlings after cleaning for the US Air Force. The oven has a work chamber dimension of 5'0" wide x 6'0" long x 6'0" high and a maximum operating temperature of 650ºF.

The oven is constructed with 6" thick tongue and groove panel assemblies, 20 gauge aluminized steel interior and ductwork. The oven also features a 2" thick reinforced insulated floor and a gravity roller conveyor system with a 1,000 pound gross loading capacity.

The heating system features incoloy sheathed heating elements, for a total of 48 kW with SSR power control. The recirculation system uses a 3,400 CFM @ 3 HP blower and combination airflow to maximize heating rates and temperature uniformity. A temperature uniformity of +/-10°F at 650°F was required. Actual temperature uniformity from a nine (9) point profile test resulted +6.9° F/-6.1°F.

The UL labeled and certified NEMA 12 control enclosure is mounted on the oven and includes IEC style motor starters, push buttons, and pilot lights. The temperature is controlled by a Honeywell DCP100 programmable temperature controller with 8 programs, capable of 16 ramp/soak segments, and over temperature protection is provided by a Barber-Colman 7SL high limit controller. The oven also includes a Honeywell DR4300 circular chart recorder.

The customer added Wisconsin Oven's energy efficient E-Pack(TM) oven upgrade, which includes thicker wall panels, higher efficient motors, a door limit switch, and a few other energy saving items that will reduce their operating costs.
