Sto EmeraldCoat® Now Boasts ICC-ES Code Compliance

ATLANTA - (April 2, 2008) Sto Corp., the innovative world leader in cladding, coating, and restoration systems, has announced that Sto EmeraldCoat, an integral part of the StoGuard(TM) air and moisture barrier system, has received ICC-ES approval for use under all claddings except exterior insulation and finish system (EIFS).
The new version of report ESR-1233, issued by the International Code Council (ICC) recognizes Sto EmeraldCoat for use behind all non-EIFS claddings based on the test data presented. It continues to allow the use of Sto Gold Coat, another facet of the StoGuard system, behind stucco with a slip sheet, but does not require a slip sheet over Sto EmeraldCoat behind stucco.
"What does this mean to the market?" asked Lisa Petsko, StoGuard product manager. "It means that no longer will felt paper or other barriers be needed in stucco walls because Sto EmeraldCoat functions as the bond breaker so the stucco does not stick to it. It means that in most situations, StoGuard is the most efficient air/moisture barrier solution."
