Sonobond Ultrasonics

Release date: April 15, 2008

Sonobond Ultrasonics to Exhibit State-of-the-Art Metal Welding Unit

Sonobond Ultrasonics to Exhibit State-of-the-Art Metal Welding Unit at the Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo in Milwaukee, May 21-22

The SpliceRite(TM) Ultrasonic Wire Splicer will be on Display at Booth #1433 in the Midwest Airline Center

WEST CHESTER, Pennsylvania, April 15, 2008-Sonobond Ultrasonics, a leader in ultrasonic metal welding technology since 1960, announced today that it will be exhibiting at the Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo in Milwaukee. According to Sonobond's president, Janet Devine, visitors to the Expo will be able to see the popular SpliceRite(TM) Ultrasonic Wire Splicer in action by coming to Booth #1433 in the Midwest Airlines Center, May 21-22.

In commenting on the Expo, Devine said, "The Electrical Wire Processing Technology Expo is a major event on our calendar every year. It is a great opportunity for attendees to see our equipment firsthand and to meet directly with Sonobond's experienced personnel to discuss their particular application at length. Our ultrasonic metal welders produce strong, reliable metallurgical bonds that make them the preferred technology for metal welding applications throughout the wiring industry."

Accommodates Tinned or Oxidized Wires The Sonobond SpliceRite(TM) Ultrasonic Wire Splicer creates perfect solid-state metallurgical bonds using the lowest possible voltage drop and minimum energy consumption. The unit is ideal for quickly splicing wire bundles-without producing arcs, sparks, or fumes, or melting the wires. It also eliminates the need for clipping, soldering, crimping, or dipping. Unlike other ultrasonic wire splicers, only Sonobond's SpliceRite(TM) easily accommodates tinned or heavily oxidized wires. The unit features a microprocessor controller that can store and recall up to 250 jobs, while producing welds by height, by energy, or by time. This ultrasonic metal welder is available in 1500 and 2500 watts power capacity.

High Performance with Ease of Operation Like other Sonobond ultrasonic metal welders, the SpliceRite(TM) Ultrasonic Wire Splicer features the patented Wedge-Reed system. This system combines high vibratory force with low amplitude coupling. It enables the unit to direct high frequency ultrasonic energy via a welding tip to the surface between the metals to be welded. The vibratory energy disperses the oxides and surface films between the work pieces. A true metallurgical bond is then created without melting the materials. Ultrasonic welding is environmentally friendly, produces no waste, and is economical to use.

All Sonobond metal welders, including the SpliceRite(TM) Ultrasonic Wire Splicer, feature heat-treated, tool steel taper lock tips. These tips can last for up to 300,000 welds and they permit quick tooling changes. Sonobond units have the additional benefit of being easy to operate with only minimal training.

A Leader in Ultrasonic Welding Technology Sonobond is a worldwide leader in the application of ultrasonic welding and bonding technology. In 1960, Sonobond-then known as Aeroprojects-received the first patent ever awarded for ultrasonic metal welding. During the intervening 48 years, Sonobond has earned an outstanding reputation for its pioneering work and quality-engineered products. Today Sonobond manufacturers a complete line of ultrasonic bonding and welding equipment for a wide variety of customers in the electrical, automotive, appliance, HVAC, aerospace, filtration, medical, and apparel industries.
