Press Release

Thermadyne Industries, Inc.

Release date: March 11, 2008

TurboTorch® Introduces New Viper Line of Brazing Alloys, High Silvers, Solders and Fluxes

St. Louis, MO (March 11, 2008) - TurboTorch, a leading manufacturer of a line of air-fuel and oxy-fuel products, recently announced the expansion of its line-up to include a new Viper line of high quality brazing alloys, solders and fluxes for a variety of applications. Available to plumbing and heating, ventilations air conditioning (HVAC) wholesalers this spring, the complete line includes five brazing rod alloys, five solders, four high silver alloys, three fluxes and an aluminum repair kit.

"For years TurboTorch has offered a limited line of brazing alloys to the plumbing and HVAC markets. Now this offering has been expanded to a complete line under the Viper name," said Paul Minter, Vice President and General Manager of TurboTorch.

Minter continued, "TurboTorch has set the highest standard for manufacturers of air fuel equipment and maintained this level of leadership by continually improving our torches and applying the most advanced and innovative technologies. Now by adding the new array of alloys, solders and fluxes to our extensive line of torches and gas products, we have made TurboTorch a one-stop shop for our HVAC and plumbing wholesalers."

The new line of Viper Brazing Alloys are ideal for joining copper to copper and are self-fluxing in this application. Used primarily for refrigeration and HVAC tubing, they include silver, copper and phosphorus brazing alloys. In addition, these alloys can be used on bronze and brass. Viper alloys feature compositions for full range of flow and fill characteristics. The premium alloys are available in 28 stick packages.

Viper's High Silver Brazing Alloys are cadmium-free and available in a range of compositions for a variety of application and temperatures, including torch, HVAC, refrigeration, induction and vacuum. These alloys are available in wire coil form and various amounts ranging from 1 Troy Ounce to 5 Troy Ounces. Viper High Silver Brazing Alloys are free-flowing, ductile and strong.

The Viper SX solder is a lead-free, antimony-free solder offering a low melting point and a wide melting range for excellent flow and control. This non-toxic solder is safe for portable water and creates corrosion resistant, leak-tight joints. Viper Silver Bearing Solder is also available in two compositions - Viper Sl, recommended for fast melting, free flowing jobs, and Viper SS, recommended when a wider melting point is desired. These solders are cadmium-free and lead-free, and are approved and widely used for the plumbing and building industries. Also available are the Viper 95/5 lead-free solder and the Viper 50/50 solder.

Viper Soldering Flux Paste is a water soluble, non-toxic flux for use on copper, brass, tin, silver, galvanized iron, lead, mild steel, zinc, and malleable iron. This flux paste cleans as it solders and is an all-weather flux for use in various climates. For use with furnace, resistance or induction heating applications, Viper Silver Brazing Flux Paste is high-heat resistant and has powerful cleaning action to minimize waste of expensive silver solders. Viper Aluminum Flux Paste solders aluminum at lower temperatures and works well with all Viper solders. The Viper Aluminum Repair Kit, designed for repairing aluminum evaporators and ducts, includes aluminum flux paste and solder. Plus, it can be used to solder aluminum to copper.

Said Minter, "With over 30 years of experience in the industry, TurboTorch has a legacy in the professional market that cannot be disputed. All of our products offer durability, innovation, and a commitment to safety - and the new line of Viper products is no exception. Like all TurboTorch products, Viper features only the highest quality products to produce consistent results."

TurboTorch, markets the most comprehensive line of air-fuel and oxy-fuel products and accessories of any manufacturer. Its "Swirl-Tip" and "Sof-Flame(TM)" torches and tips are the tools of choice for trade professionals worldwide. The TurboTorch Pro-Line(TM) series torches give operators the added convenience of a self-lighting torch feature. TurboTorch's premium quality products include tools for Acetylene, LP Gas, MAPP®, and oxy-acetylene applications. Cylinders, hand torch kits, and brazing and soldering alloys complement TurboTorch's equipment offering.
