Bosch Packaging Technology

Release date: February 21, 2008

BFK 1000 fondant competence module produces uniform crystal structures

Quick rotation between batch-wise or continuous cooking technology allows for flexibility in candy and cereal bar production

High-speed horizontal flow wrapper Pack 401 applicable for up to 400 packages per minute

Bosch Packaging Technology, a global leader in processing and packaging technology for the confectionery industry, introduces new additions to its product portfolio at Interpack 2008 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The full line supplier will be showcasing a number of innovative machines and modules in hall 6, stand B09 to C58.

Bosch's equipment is suited to account for a number of trends in the confectionery market. Engineered flexibility enables manufacturers to process and package diverse size ranges on the same piece of equipment. A trend towards healthy and functional confections demands processing equipment that can handle a range of ingredients. Premium and luxury products require innovative packaging solutions that allows the packaging itself to function as a marketing vehicle. Bosch introduces its new products that enable producers to meet these confectionery trends.

Bosch's Contiline represents the latest development in the field of bar production and is suitable for candy and cereal bars. The flexible machine can be configured for batch-wise and continuous cooking. Its forming module can also be adjusted to numerous product configurations. The servo-driven length and cross cutting units have been designed for straight edge applications.

Furthermore, Bosch introduces a confectionery mixing and an extrusion unit for fruit gum production. The BFK 1000 Fondant Competence Module is a confectionery beater in a modular machine format, producing fine, uniform crystal structures for confectionery mixing. The extrusion unit for fruit gum production allows a production of eight different products with four different colors and aromas simultaneously. Beside the traditional fruit jelly shapes, producers can develop customized and innovative product shapes with this system.

The Pack 401 horizontal flow wrapper from Tevopharm, a Bosch Packaging Technology Company, is a mid- to high-speed wrapper suitable to a wide range of applications, designed to package products from 20 to 440 items per minute or 80 meters per minute film speed. The availability of numerous automated infeed formats offers the flexibility manufacturers need for quick changeover to new applications to respond to market changes. The Pack 401 is also designed for three-shift operation and typically runs seven days per week.

"Upcoming consumer trends, such as the increasing demand for variable size options or innovative ingredient preferences, confectionery producers are increasingly turning to Bosch equipment to account for this dynamic, exciting sector, " says Soren Brautigam, Director of Global Marketing for Bosch Packaging Technology. "We are not just machine builders, we are long-term partners who help companies compete and grow in a crowded market space."
