Combat Performance Earns Input and a Battlefield Promotion

CARY, NC (July 11, 2007) - Dedicated to every mission. Relentless advancement, regardless of terrain or conditions. And a proven military service record. This soldier deserves a promotion.

John Deere M-Gator A1(TM)

A good soldier advances based on combat experiences and so has this one: the John Deere M-Gator Utility Vehicle now has a new designation - A1(TM) - to match its expanded capabilities.

Based on input from the very people it was designed to serve, the John Deere M-Gator A1 has been improved to serve as the perfect military utility vehicle. Delivering the strength, power and versatility military forces need, the A1 boasts certifications unmatched by other utility vehicles in its class:

U.S. Army Safety Certified 2006 Meets or exceeds civilian and commercial equipment hillside stability and braking accreditation for American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE)

"John Deere has been proud to supply the U.S. Military with M-Gators for the past several years," said Cleo Franklin, strategic marketing manager, Governmental Sales, John Deere Worldwide Commercial & Consumer Equipment Division. "As the M-Gator evolves to fulfill the ever-changing needs of soldiers, we're privileged to have continuing feedback from some of our country's finest."

At the request of U.S. military personnel, the A1 features many improvements over the original M-Gator. The vehicle features an 854cc Tier II Yanmar diesel engine, offering 10 percent more horsepower and 30 percent more torque. The vehicle can now travel at speeds of up to 20 mph. The A1 also features a dual radiator cooling system with 30 percent more cooling capacity to handle the toughest conditions.

A front litter carrier is now standard, as is a 12V outlet, and there are more external tie down points on the cargo box, making the A1 more versatile than ever. Its small, maneuverable design still allows it to navigate rugged terrain while keeping cargo and passengers safe. With standard two-post foldable OPS and seat belts (SAE certified), the A1 also offers several options including a cab, sun canopy and garrison light kit.

Cost effective and easy to transport, the A1 is a practical solution for a variety of mission demands. Easy maintenance is assured utilizing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) parts and worldwide parts and service support.
