Seagate 1TB SV35 Hard Drive-enabled Distributed Media Managers from CoVi Deliver High-Performance IP-Based Video Surveillance Storage, Delivery and Management

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 24 / / -- CoVi Technologies today announced the availability of the industry's highest capacity Distributed Media Manager (DMM) for CoVi's flagship Crystal HD(TM) video surveillance system. The new Seagate(R) SV35 Series(TM) 1TB Hard Drive, specifically designed for digital video surveillance systems, enables the new CoVi 2100, 2000, and 1100-DMM's to deliver dramatically greater performance in managing, storing and delivering high-definition video surveillance over IP networks.

The CoVi DMM-2100, DMM-2000 and DMM-1100 series are intelligent video recorders, stream servers and video information managers. Each DMM operates at the edge of the surveillance network and provides dedicated processing and storage capacity to an individual Crystal HD, IP or analog camera. With the addition of the Seagate 1TB SV35 Hard Drive, storage capacities of the DMM's are significantly extended. For example, the CoVi DMM-2100 can now record and store up to one year of high-definition video from an HD camera on a single drive allowing users to better meet new and emerging regulations for video archiving. In addition, the new CoVi DMMs are uniquely positioned to address the exponential growth of IP-based video surveillance traffic.

"IP video surveillance is a global growth market and storage is playing a pivotal role in the industry's ability to engineer increasingly powerful systems for a wide range of commercial and government environments," said Marc Jourlait, vice president of global marketing for Seagate. "Seagate's SV35 Series 1TB hard drives allow CoVi's DMMs to significantly increase the amount of video that can be stored at the edge of the network. This capability offers IT and security personnel tremendous network flexibility and efficiency when it comes to minimizing the impact of bandwidth-intensive, high-definition IP video surveillance on the enterprise IT infrastructure."

"CoVi's unique scalable architecture dedicates one DMM -- therefore one Seagate SV35 1TB drive -- per camera," said Barry Walker, CEO of CoVi Technologies. "Thus a 10 camera system provides 10TB of storage, a 50 camera system provides 50TB of storage -- allowing organizations to easily and cost-effectively scale their security network and recording capabilities."

Key features of the new CoVi 1TB DMM's include:

o Maximum storage capacity -- Records up to 365 days of HD resolution video(1) or up to 32 continuous days of full-motion video(2) o Higher quality, higher frame rate recording -- Delivers HD resolution at 5 and 7.5 frames per second o Powerful functionality at the edge -- Camera and video session management performed by each DMM; customized streaming and recording configuration for each individual DMM o Advanced video storage and delivery -- Pre- and post-event recording and streaming on demand o Maximum image quality and storage capacity -- Utilizes Industry standard MPEG-4 and JPEG encoding o Flexibility -- Multi-user access at different network bandwidths, from multiple LAN and WAN locations

CoVi's 1TB DMM-2100 will be available for order beginning in December 2007. Seagate SV35 Series hard drives up to 750GB capacity are currently available through Seagate authorized distributors worldwide, with the 1TB capacity available for order through Seagate authorized distributors beginning in December 2007.

Accessible capacity may vary depending on operating environment and formatting. Quantitative usage examples for various applications are for illustrative purposes. Actual quantities will vary based on various factors, including file size, file format, features and application software.
