Accu-SortŪ Systems Increases Production Accuracy and Efficiency at Herr Foods
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (September 19, 2007) - Accu-SortŪ Systems announced that it has installed new AXIOM(TM) and Model 22 Series II Bar Code Scanners and FAST Count(TM) software at Herr Foods Inc., in Nottingham, Pennsylvania. The new system is 15 to 20 percent more accurate than the previous system, which enables Herr Foods to more efficiently manage production.
Herr Foods Inc. ships product directly to stores in the northeast United States, as well as more than 38 distributors nationwide. In order to manage this process, it is critical that the company know how much of each product has been shipped, as well as how much is in production and inventory. The bar code system prints a label that provides production information, such as date of manufacture and quantity per case that is affixed to product cases.
The data is managed using FAST Count software, a real-time production counting system. FAST Count software provides the data Herr Foods needs to effectively manage manufacturing, inventory, and shipping.
Prior to the installation of the Accu-Sort system, Herr Foods Inc., production staff performed a manual inventory each shift to verify warehouse counts. The new system eliminated the need for these manual counts.
