ISaGRAF's IEC 61499 Compliance Confirmed by TÜV Rheinland
Montreal, Canada - May 9, 2007 - ICS Triplex ISaGRAF Inc., the leading automation software partner, is proud to announce that their award-winning ISaGRAF automation software has received confirmation of IEC 61499 compliance from TUV Rheinland.
Version 5.1 of ISaGRAF has been confirmed by TUV Rheinland to be compliant with the requirements detailed in the IEC 61499 standard. The IEC 61499 standard defines the method for designing and implementing robust and efficient cooperating systems, and presents guidelines for the use of function blocks in distributed industrial process, measurement and control systems. It provides a number of significant benefits to distributed applications including:
o the regulation of the flow of control decisions for an interacting distributed control system
o providing for the consistency of data
o providing a means to ensure synchronous operation between devices
o eliminating the need to have separate synchronization schemes
Easing the development and maintenance of robust control systems IEC 61499 also has the ability to encapsulate automation functionality such that machine builders can create IEC 61499 function blocks for different components of the machine and need only assemble them to achieve the desired operation. It provides the benefits of object-oriented programming in an environment familiar and accessible to automation engineers.
IEC 61499 is a natural complement to the IEC 61131 methodology. ISaGRAF 5 incorporates both the IEC 61499 and IEC 61131-3 standards. ISaGRAF 5 has already received confirmation of IEC 61131-3 compliance from TUV Rheinland.
