Psion Teklogix Partners with Ekahau to Equip Handheld Terminals with Leading Real Time Location Technology
Orlando, Florida (RFID Journal Live! 2007) - May 1st , 2007 - Psion Teklogix (LSE: PON), a global provider of solutions for mobile computing, wireless data collection, imaging and RFID, announced today an agreement with Ekahau Inc., a leader in providing Wi-Fi based Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), to equip Psion Teklogix handheld terminals with Ekahau's advanced location technology.
The joint solution combines the strengths of Psion Teklogix' line of rugged handheld devices and the industry-leading RTLS platform from Ekahau. The Ekahau RTLS platform is a comprehensive solution that includes the Ekahau Positioning Engine server software, application software and RFID tags. Ekahau RTLS can locate Wi-Fi-enabled devices - laptops, personal digital assistants, and other items to which an Ekahau tag has been attached.
Typical supply chain and manufacturing applications for RTLS include the ability to track items that are mobile such as parts, containers, vehicles, trailers, fixed assets, among others. The Ekahau system has the ability to track assets both indoors and outdoors.
The agreement allows Psion Teklogix to embed Ekahau's RTLS technology into Psion Teklogix' WORKABOUT PRO and 7535 handheld devices for use in the automotive sector as well as other industries.
As a result, both Psion Teklogix' and Ekahau's customers will be able to more efficiently track the location of inventory and assets, improve the overall workflow, and enhance the levels of corporate security and customer service.
Designed for performance in a range of data collection needs, the rugged and durable WORKABOUT PRO is a flexible, programmable and expandable portable data collection terminal. The 7535 is a rugged PC handheld computer designed to perform in the harshest conditions in warehouse, manufacturing facility, yard, distribution centre, or port.
