PSI Engineering

Release date: April 19, 2007

PSI Engineering Awarded US Patent for Product and Document Fulfillment System (PDFS) that Automates the Packing Station Process of Warehouses and Distribution Centers.

Mississauga, ON, April 19, 2007 PSI Engineering, an expert in providing order fulfillment and document automation solutions for warehouses and distribution centers, announced today that it has been granted another patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its Automated packaging solution.

The PDFS system is a complete No Hands automated packaging solution which includes the collection of marketing collateral like catalogs and DVDs, with a personalized invoice and/or packing slip and/or personalized greeting. This literature is then merged with the product(s), packaged, shipping label applied and sorted by courier. The system also includes two reject sections, before and after the packaging which allows the line to run continuous without operator intervention. The PDFS system is able to process up to 1500 orders per hour with 100% accuracy.

Not only will this proven yet unique system help leading e-retailers and their affiliated warehouses and distribution centers avoid incurring extensive labor cost from the manual packing of orders states John Panunto, President of PSI Engineering. The PDFS system will also address the indirect labor and consumable costs that are often hidden within the day to day operational budget of a distribution center. The utilization of laser printed invoices on demand integrated within the PDFS system, not only enhance the appearance of orders but also saves a considerable amount of money usually reserved for consumables such as custom paper stock or ribbon, explains Mr. Panunto.

Utilizing laser printing instead of thermal improves the quality and readability of orders, allowing e-retailers to extend their brand identity to their packaging. This is a profitable decision that will save e-retailers hundreds of thousands of dollars each year in consumable costs concludes Mr. Panunto.

PSIs PDFS system saves Warehouse and Distribution Centers valuable floor space and provides a total solution that delivers the highest order throughput at the lowest total operating cost in the industry today.
