JETBLACK(TM) Personnel Blow-Off Gun Gains Acceptance as Safer Than Compressed Air for Debris Removal, Drying

Low-Pressure Air Delivery Eliminates Risk of Skin Injury

CHICAGO-The JETBLACK(TM) Personnel Blow-Off Gun is gaining increased acceptance as an effective and safer alternative to compressed air in settings where dust or other debris must be removed or where equipment or products are dried manually, according to A.W.T. World Trade, Inc., the product's exclusive U.S. distributor.

"The JETBLACK system has several advantages over the traditional use of compressed air, especially in safety and comfort," said Gene Gajos, a technical sales representative at A.W.T. "With air pressure of less than 3 psi, it eliminates the risk of skin damage that is a concern with the much higher pressure of compressed air. At the same time, the high-volume air delivery of the JETBLACK is extremely effective in cleaning and drying applications."

Gajos also noted the JETBLACK is much quieter, lightweight and can be less tiring to operate over longer periods with the optional foot switch instead of a finger trigger. "Until recently, compressed air or simply 'brushing off' have been the accepted methods for removing debris from personnel," Gajos said. "These methods fall short, however, in plants where safety and cleanliness are important factors. In many countries outside the U.S., compressed air has become illegal to use, due to safety concerns."

Jim Parlin, services supervisor at Century Aluminum Corp. in Ravenswood, W.Va., said safety was a key consideration in his company turning to the JETBLACK system for personnel cleanup.

"Our employees were using high-pressured air to blow the dust off their clothing," Parlin said. "This system is just what we needed to curtail high-pressure dust-off, which we know can be very dangerous at times."

A.W.T. is the exclusive U.S. distributor of the JETBLACK for Air Control Industries, Ltd. (A.C.I.) of the U.K. The personnel cleaning system comes in several models. Gajos said wall-mount and floor models of the JETBLACK are ideal for any site that requires removal of debris or moisture from footwear and clothing, parts or equipment. The portable unit is light enough to be transported into smaller areas, places that are not easily accessible, or locations where a wall-mount unit would not be practical. The JETBLACK includes sound-absorbing foam on all internal surfaces, reducing noise levels below 78 dB. The basic JETBLACK unit comes with eight feet of flexible hose, a 16-foot electrical cable, plug and easy-to-use, sturdy gun nozzle. Other models feature varied voltages, foot switch, motor speed controller and static neutralization pack. An additional electrostatic system can be retrofitted.
