Insight Automation Designs Work in Process for Final Assembly and Packing of Medical Appliances
Insight Automation using the ConveyTrax® control system for motorized drive roller conveyor has designed and implemented a unique final assembly and packaging area for a major medical equipment company supplier in the Eastern United States. This system replaces an outdated line-shaft conveyor system that no longer met the customer's needs.
This new design uses 24 volt motorized drive roller zone accumulation conveyor (MDR) to convey the boxed medical appliance through the process of adding accessory devices to the container and final packaging and shipping confirmation.
The system consists of a single line of MDR conveyor that divides into two separate accessory filling lines within a carton flow pick rack.
The induction operator scans a barcode on the build paperwork associated with the medical device. The Insight Automation supplied ConveyRoute® system releases the carton then triggers a shipping barcode label to be printed and automatically applied to the carton as it passes the label printer-applicator. During this transportation time a message is transmitted to the customer MRP system requesting routing of that carton to the proper series of pick locations in the rack.
After the label is printed and applied and the carton routing has been determined, the ConveyRoute® PC will issue a tracking destination to the ConveyTrax® MDR roller control system to route the package to the proper picking workstations.
ConveyTrax® automatically tracks the carton to the proper destination and stops it there for the first pick. When the carton arrives, a message is sent to the MRP system to display the proper items to the picking operator to be added to the carton. This process continues through the picking rack until all required items have been added. The carton is then routed to the audit/carton sealing area, then released to shipping.
ConveyTrax® allows the MDR conveyor system to be used to stop cartons only at workstations in the rack where work is to be competed and bypass the others.
ConveyTrax® is a modular control system for Motorized Drive Roller conveyor which requires NO-PROGRAMMING to implement. Modules are configurd using the windows based RollOn® configuration tool to configure your system and it's ready to run.
