LEXINGTON, KY - The configurator can quickly and easily compile a handling module (a pick-and-place unit, for example) - without any extra calculation work. As an added benefit, the configurator also provides complete documentation including CAD data for the user.
The tool is easy to use and can be accessed by anyone over the Internet. Before configuring a module, users must enter information required for design: the working space and workpiece weight as well as whether or not rotary movements are necessary. After choosing the type of installation, users are presented with further parameters such as the rotation angle or the maximum time per movement. Using this data, the system works out the components while taking the mass moments of inertia into account.
This tool saves users much of their time usually spent on complicated calculations. Users can select from a variety of gripper versions, rotary compact modules, and linear axes. Once specific parameters have been entered - the necessary stroke, for instance - the system determines all components that are compatible with one another and which optimally meet all the requirements.
At the end of the process, a complete parts list is generated which even spans cylinder switches and fittings. Additionally, the user is given a material number which can designate the handling module as either a kit with mounting parts or as a preassembled unit, depending on customer request. With regard to project documentation, the system also produces a succinct, relevant PDF file covering the parts list, specified application parameters, calculation results, and complete assembly instructions plus CAD data.
