American Power Conversion BLADE READY(TM) Program Adds Two New Partners to Support Growing Worldwide Blade Server Deployment
Smartbunker Maximum Security Data Centre and Panduit Join APC's BLADE READY Program to Help Enterprises Assess, Design and Implement
High Density Blade Server Technology
WEST KINGSTON, R.I. - December 12, 2006 - American Power Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC) (APC), a global leader in power, cooling, and management solutions, today announced that two new industry partners recently joined APC's BLADE READY(TM) program (www.BladeReady.com). Smartbunker, a market leader for military grade, high density and intelligent hosting solutions, and Panduit Corporation, a world leader in network and electrical solutions, recently joined the BLADE READY program to assist organizations with the planning and deployment of high density blade computing solutions.
The BLADE READY program unites APC with vendors of complementary data center infrastructure technologies to deliver comprehensive interoperable products, solutions, and services for blade server environments. Together, BLADE READY members help enterprises assess, design, procure, stage, implement and interconnect blade servers and related equipment. Members in this program include a group of strategic, best-in-class hardware and software vendors that help enable operational excellence and unsurpassed compatibility with blade network environments.
"With blade server technology driving up densities to 30kW per rack when fully populated, companies need easy access to information on how to successfully deploy blades," said Aaron Davis, APC's chief marketing officer. "The BLADE READY program offers an assessment of a company's readiness to implement blades and, if appropriate, assists in facilitating the transition to blades resulting in operational excellence in that firm's blade environment. Both Smartbunker and Panduit easily meet the stringent requirements of the BLADE READY program and we are delighted to add these high-caliber companies."
"Today's businesses are aware of the many advantages blade technology offers but they may not be aware of the challenges involved in successful deployment of this new technology," said Ron Partridge, Panduit's vice president of global sales and marketing. "With these challenges in mind, Panduit applied its expertise and proficient design capabilities to develop a unique cabling management solution specifically for blade servers. This proven solution ensures smooth and speedy deployment of blade servers through efficient cable management."
Kelly Smith, Managing Director, Smartbunker said, "When selecting a hosting partner, customers want to be assured that their chosen partner has a robust and secure infrastructure coupled with the capacity and expertise to deploy high density equipment without impacting the environment or disrupting other hosted equipment. Smartbunker's association with APC's BLADE READY program provides additional assurance of the company's expertise and ability to deliver this service."
According to industry research firm Gartner, Inc., worldwide blade server annual shipments are expected to reach 1.2 million by 2009. Gartner expects annual shipments of all servers to reach seven million by 2009. To take advantage of the technology trend, the BLADE READY program offers a single stop for a wide variety of resources including APC's Blade Readiness Assessment Service, which is a first step in understanding the right approach to these challenges. Also available are white papers, build out guides, total cost of ownership(TCO) planning guides, and more.
