Plainville CT, Novr 1, (2006): Gems(TM) Sensors & Controls (Gems), a global leader in liquid level, pressure, and flow sensors and miniature solenoid valves, today announced the appointment of Muriel Bras-Jorge to the position of President. Mrs. Bras-Jorge, a proven executive with deep experience in engineering, lean manufacturing, and business development has held executive level positions at Jacobs Vehicle Systems Inc. (JVS), a Danaher company and Honeywell International Inc.

Mrs. Bras-Jorge will have global responsibility for Gems which includes global sales and manufacturing facilities in Plainville and New Britain, Connecticut; Basingstoke, England; and all other global assets including Europe and Asia.

Prior to her Business Development role, Mrs. Bras-Jorge was Vice President and General Manager of Medium Duty at JVS. In that role she led her team to revamp the strategy and focus efforts in international markets. Previous to joining Danaher, Muriel was with Honeywell where she was the Site Leader for their International Electronics Materials business. Prior to that, she held engineering and customer support, leadership roles in Honeywell's Aerospace and Defense business. Mrs. Bras-Jorge has also held engineering roles at Direction Generale de I'Aviation Civile in Paris, France and Snecma in Villaroche, France.

Mrs. Bras-Jorge has earned degrees in Advanced Mathematics and Physics at Lycee Montaigne - Bordeaux, France; an Aeronautics Engineering Degree at ENAC Grande Ecole of Engineering - Toulouse, France; a Masters in Propulsion Science from ENSAE Grande Ecole of Engineering - Toulouse, France and an MBA from Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona.
