Parker Hannifin Corp.

Release date: October 31, 2006

Parker Hannifin Introduces Electric Cylinder with Roller Screw Technology

ATLANTA, OCT. 31, 2006 - Parker Hannifin's Actuator Division has expanded its family of linear actuators with the introduction of the ETR Series Electric Cylinder, featuring roller screw technology. The ETR Series cylinders are designed for applications where higher loads and/or faster cycling time are desired.Specific applications include machine tools, military vehicles automotive body and assembly, injection molding, and electrohydraulic simulator applications.

The integration of planetary roller screw into the current ET (ball screw) product allows design engineers to use this technology for applications requiring high loads, high speeds, fast acceleration, and very high resolution, all at a 15x greater life expectancy over ball screws. With thrust capacity to 100KN (22,500 lbf), and a Parker motor and control system, the ETR series arrives at the customer's dock complete and ready to mount.

The Parker ETR Series features a precision planetary roller screw and is available in four profile sizes - 50, 80, 100, and 125 mm.The modular design of the ETR Series allows for seven mounting styles in addition to available custom mounting, which includes a front trunnion mount. Additionally, the ETR Series features inline or parallel motor mounting.

With a dual direction angular contact, tapered roller bearings, and high load Torlon(TM) anti-rotate bearings, the ETR Series maintains exceptional performance while providing a life expectancy 15 times greater than ball screws.

Additional features include:

o Enclosed tie rod design for structural strength. o External lubrication ports for bearings and screw. o Up to 2G acceleration. o Parker's global drop-in position sensing switches for limit/home, reed and solid state. o Oil or grease lubrication designed specifically for the application.

For more information regarding the ETR Series Electric Cylinder with roller screw technology, contact Parker Hannifin Corporation, Actuator Division. Phone 330-336-3511 or visit us online at www.parker.com/actuator

The Actuator Division combines pneumatic, electromechanical, hydraulic, and structural aluminum technologies to provide world-class automation system solutions across all industries.

With annual sales exceeding $9 billion, Parker Hannifin is the world's leading diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems, providing precision-engineered solutions for a wide variety of commercial, mobile, industrial and aerospace markets. The company employs more than 57,000 people in 46 countries around the world.
