(Pawcatuck, Conn.)--The Converting Systems Group of Davis-Standard, LLC recently announced that Fabian Umbach has been appointed Global Business Manager Liquid Coating for the company's ER-WE-PA product line in Erkrath, Germany. In his new role, Umbach will be responsible for managing the engineering and sales functions for Davis-Standard's liquid coating business. Davis-Standard's Germany location services customers throughout Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Asia.
Umbach brings more than 10 years' experience in the adhesive, laminating and coating business to his position, having previously worked for Monarch Busch Maschinenbau and Vertriebs-GmbH & Co.KG, Pagendarm BTT GmbH, and Avery Dennison. Since 1999, Umbach has worked for Avery Dennison at plants in Gotha and Schwelm, Germany, serving in several capacities including engineering and plant management positions. As head of production at the Gotha plant, Umbach was responsible for all coating processes and plant logistics. As the engineering manager at the Schwelm location, he was responsible for all processes including solvent-based adhesive coating, water-based adhesive coating, slitting operations, solvent recovery, in-house mixing of adhesives and in-line sheeting for the graphics market. He was also on the steering committee to implement a new production system based on "TPS - Toyota Production Systems" and Six Sigma in a plant of more than 500 employees.
Umbach is a graduate of the University of Applied Sciences of Rhineland-Westphalia in Cologne, Germany where he studied mechanical engineering. For more information about Davis-Standard's liquid coating product line, visit www.bc-egan.com
