SmartSkim® for Polymer Quench Recycling
New system successfully recycles polymer quench solutions SmartSkim® announces new capabilities.
The SmartSkim® line of skimming and separation equipment from Universal Separators has been successfully applied to recycling polymer quench fluids used in induction heat treating. Oily contaminants from a number of sources can degrade the quality of polymer quench fluids, causing shortened fluid life, frequent coil cleanings, parts that have an oily film after processing and increased smoke from heat treating operations. The SmartSkim® system continuously removes floating oil and solids from the quench solution using multi-pass treatment. The open channel coalescing features of the SmartSkim® system remove contaminants by gravity only, requiring virtually no maintenance and minimal consumables. The effective working life of the polymer quench is greatly extended. This cuts new quench purchases significantly, while greatly reducing disposal costs of contaminated polymer quench. Plant safety and environmental performance is also improved. SmartSkim® Systems are designed to maintain and recycle many industrial fluids including machine coolants and parts washing solutions.
