Consolidated Engineering Co.

Release date: November 13, 2006

Kennesaw, GA (November 13, 2006) - Nissin Brake, a subsidiary of Nissin Kogyo Co. Ltd, has contracted with Consolidated Engineering Company (CEC) to install a third continuous roller hearth solution heat treatment and age (T-6) system. This system will double Nissin's casting processing capacity from 80 per hour to 160 per hour.

There were 3 main considerations when initial reviews were conducted. The first was the combination of rapid heat-up and thermal uniformity throughout the castings. The castings are safety critical steering components and must be heat treated precisely. The space allotted to the system in the facility was very tight, so CEC customized the design of the T-6 to meet these physical constrictions while providing very fast heat-up and tight temperature variations throughout the castings. The second challenge was in integrating with the SCADA data acquisition system, and the third was automation with the upstream/downstream processes. CEC addressed both of these points by working closely with Nissin Brake Ohio and Nissin Brake Georgia to integrate the T-6 and to capture all time/temperature data and storing this data for retrieval on demand.

"We are very pleased with the first two T-6 systems that CEC implemented," said Brian Buck, Project Engineer for Nissin Brake Georgia. "When the need arose for a third system, we did not hesitate to contact CEC again."
