Verizon Wireless Release date: October 26, 2006
JOPLIN, Mo., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- In its continuing effort to provide the best wireless service in the Joplin area, Verizon Wireless has activated three new cell sites in Diamond and Granby, and along U.S. Route 71 south of Carthage to Neosho.
The enhancements improve network coverage in the following areas:
o In and around the city of Diamond. o In and around the city of Granby and along U.S. Route 60 west to Neosho. o Between Diamond and Neosho along U.S. Route 71 and east to Granby.
In addition to expanding coverage, these three new cell sites increase capacity enabling more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive text, picture and video messages, and download games and ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.
"Our customers know they can count on our network reliability," said Mark Crumpton, president-Kansas/Missouri Region, Verizon Wireless. "This investment further shows our commitment to customer service and improving our premier wireless voice and data network."
Reliable service is fundamental to customer loyalty, and Verizon Wireless boasts the highest customer loyalty in the industry. During the second quarter of 2006, only 1.1 percent of its customers disconnected their service, which is well below the industry average.
The new cell sites in the Joplin area are part of Verizon Wireless' continuous effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Missouri and across the country. Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion in the last six years -- $5 billion on average every year since the company was formed -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $124 million of this investment has been spent over the past three years in Missouri.
